and under our laws, if I give my maid a day off and she commits some crime on her day off, which is totally beyond my control, I will be held accountable and have to pay a penalty.

so employers of maids are held to higher standards than our cabinet ministers. go figure.

and this is one reason why some people refuse to give their maids a day off.
